Type here Reviving heritage
to anchor the present,
merging myth and modernity
into a layered, intimate
sense of place.
For the Andaz Prague—housed in the former Sugar Palace—VELVENOIR was invited to curate an art concept that resonates deeply with the soul of the city. Our inspiration drew from Prague’s layered mythology, architectural richness, and surreal atmosphere. Rather than echo the past, we sought to respond to it—placing works that reflect the city’s complexity, its hidden narratives, and its quiet power.
The result is a site-specific collection that bridges history and contemporary presence—connecting guests not just to place, but to meaning. Each piece was chosen not for spectacle, but for its ability to hold space, evoke memory, and create a sense of belonging within the storied walls of this extraordinary building.

Soft, neutral tones are juxtaposed with splashes of vibrant blues and greens, reflecting the island’s vibrant flora and crystal-clear waters.
Each commission within this permanent collection was entrusted to local artists whose practices are deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Prague. Rather than illustrating a theme, the works emerge as autonomous, authentic responses—intimately connected to the city’s myths and spirit.
THE CONCEPT.
Referencing local legends, the “Walk of Myths” transforms the hotel into a living journey, where art becomes a compass.
the process behind.
A journey.
A cultural encounter shaped by story and soul.
We immersed ourselves in the city. Days were spent walking through the old town, sitting in libraries, visiting museums, listening to the rhythm of local life. The art concept emerged not from trend, but from research, reflection, and resonance—with Prague’s myths, its architecture, its poetic absurdities.
We sourced and guided the development of every piece in close collaboration with the artists. Each commission is an authentic expression—not of our direction, but of the artist’s personal interpretation of the story they were invited to respond to.
Once installed to museum standards, the works became a living part of the hotel’s atmosphere. Guests are invited to step into this narrative through a self-guided art walk that begins inside the property and leads out into the city—linking each artwork to a physical landmark, each legend to a lived place.
